Pelosi Undergoes Hip Surgery After Fall
This weekend, reports blew up that Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had taken a bad fall and has been taken to a facility in Germany for care.
Details were few and far between, but reports broke again later that Pelosi had to have hip replacement surgery.
Her office has updated everyone again that she is now out of surgery and recovering well.
On the Mend
Ian Krager, Pelosi’s spokesperson, posted the updates for the former Speaker of the House.
He stated, “Earlier this morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is well on the mend.
“Speaker Pelosi is grateful to U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness.
“Speaker Pelosi is enjoying the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is ever determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans.”
Pelosi was in Europe to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge with a bipartisan group of lawmakers.
Reports show she was cared for at the Landsthul Regional Medical Center in Germany.
Not to beat a dead horse, but this is just more proof that we really need to get some turnover in Congress.
When Senator McConnell (R-KY) fell, Democrats and the media were calling for him to retire, but Pelosi fell as a fellow octogenarian, and now they are all sitting on their hands.
If you are going to push term limits or mandatory age retirement for the Supreme Court, let’s do the same thing in the House and Senate.
And this is about more than age; it is about elected officials being able to relate to the people they are supposed to be representing.
Right now, the average age in the United States is 38.5 years old. Yet, the average age in the House of Representatives is 58.1, with 120 members over the age of 65, and 12 at 80 or older.
In the Senate, the average age is 64 years old, with 47 members aged 65 or older.
So, explain to me how these people can truly relate to the average American citizen and their concerns and needs.
