Pelosi struggles to cope with Trump victory

U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is struggling to cope with President-Elect Donald Trump's big victory in the 2024 presidential election.

This is according to CNN Correspondent Manu Raju.

Raju, on Tuesday, posted a message to his X account indicating that he recently asked Pelosi how she is doing. He wrote, "Asked Pelosi how she’s doing. 'Terrible,' she said."

Some context

This all comes as Republicans managed to take over the federal government in the 2024 elections.

Trump won the presidency, Republicans flipped the U.S. Senate, and Republicans held on to their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. One should also not forget that Republicans have a majority in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Not only did Trump win with a clear mandate, but he won in a blowout. He received 312 Electoral College Votes - which includes victories in all swing states - compared to Harris's 226, and he won the popular vote by several million votes.

Trump recently celebrated the big win with a message that he posted to his Truth Social account. He wrote:

THANK YOU GOD! WON ALL SWING STATES, & THE POPULAR VOTE BY ALMOST 7 MILLION VOTERS. GOT 312 ELECTORAL VOTES. IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, WON 31 OF 32 STATEWIDE JUDICIAL BENCHES, AND EVERY COUNTY IN THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY. THEY WERE ALL BLUE 8 YEARS AGO, & GOT ONE MILLION MORE TEXAS VOTES THAN IN 2020.

Trump, in recent days, has begun to announce the various selections he has made for his cabinet as well as selections that he has made for non-cabinet positions.

Pelosi struggles to cope

While all this has been going on, there have been clear signs that Pelosi - among many other Democrats - has been struggling to cope with Trump and the Republicans' overwhelming victory.

There is currently a blame game going on among Democrats. Pelosi, for her part, has placed at least some of the blame on President Joe Biden, insisting that his refusal to bow out of the 2024 presidential election sooner than he did set the Democrats up for failure.

Biden's people and other Democrats, however, have directed some blame Pelosi's way, claiming that it was her orchestration of Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election that really hurt the Democrats.

In all of Pelosi's appearances since Trump's victory, she has appeared despondent.

Despite all of this, the 84-year-old Pelosi appears poised to continue on with her political career, which has been ongoing for the better part of four decades.
