PA Supreme Court rules in GOP's favor in mail-in ballot case

Republicans haven't necessarily been winning EVERY battle related to the security of the 2024 presidential election, but this is a big one.

According to JustTheNews.com, "the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled November 1 that mail-in ballots without a handwritten date on them could not be counted in the 2024 election."

Pennsylvania's Supreme Court sided with the GOP, overturning a previous decision that had declared requiring a handwritten date unconstitutional.

"This Court will neither impose nor countenance substantial alterations to existing laws and procedures during the pendency of an ongoing election," Justice Kevin Dougherty wrote in his opinion after the decision.

Dougherty added, "We said those carefully chosen words only weeks ago. Yet they apparently were not heard in the Commonwealth Court, the very court where the bulk of election litigation unfolds."

Republican National Committee chairman Michael Whatley was speaking for many Republicans when he said, "Democrats have repeatedly tried to eliminate this important ballot safeguard, and we have stopped them each time."

"We are committed to protecting critical ballot safeguards to ensure every ballot is cast and counted properly and will continue to fight across Pennsylvania to Protect the Vote," Whatley continued.

Election security is one of the biggest issues on the minds of voters right now, as neither side wants to see a repeat of what happened after the 2020 contest.

We're not saying that Donald Trump was wrong for fighting for his beliefs.

If Trump legitimately thought that he won the 2020 election, then he was right to fight as hard as he did in the aftermath.

One of the results of Trump's fight, however, is that a record low percentage of Americans trust our current election process.

The 2024 election has already seen many instances of vandalism and mistakes resulting in ballots being improperly voided or counted, and it's making people nervous.
