Over 100,000 people attend Trump's rally at the site of the first assassination attempt
More than 100,000 people, over the weekend, attended former President Donald Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania - the site of the first attempt on Trump's life.
This figure comes from Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump.
The Daily Wire reports:
Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump said over the weekend that more than 100,000 people attended former President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
This could prove to be a historic event.
"A beautiful moment"
Lara Trump spoke about the rally during an appearance Sunday on CNN's State of the Union.
There, she said:
It really was a beautiful moment yesterday in Butler, and I think it was really important in terms of healing for this country. I don’t think any of us will forget, whether you love Donald Trump or not, where you were when you found out what had happened to him on July 13. And that’s a traumatic thing to happen to a country.
July 13, 2024, of course, was the day that a 20-year-old man managed to shoot Trump in the ear. Although Trump survived, however, Corey Comperatore - one of the rallygoers - did not. Others were also severely injured.
Many questions about the situation - including how the shooter was able to get so close to Trump - remain unanswered. At the very least, though, it is clear that there was egregious incompetence on the part of U.S. Secret Service leadership.
Regardless, Trump has made it clear that he is not going to let one assassination attempt - or even two - dissuade him from fighting for our country. If anything, they have only emboldened him.
100,000 people
Lara Trump went on to provide more details about the rally over the weekend.
She said:
And I can tell you, when we got off the plane yesterday, I was a little bit emotional, and I got to sit right next to Helen Comperatore, Corey Comperatore’s widow, and his two daughters. And it was a really beautiful tribute. And I think it was important for Donald Trump to go back and create new memories for the people of Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump continued saying, "And that’s exactly what you saw yesterday."
She added, "I can tell you there were over 100,000 people at that rally there last night. I have never seen a crowd like that. You couldn’t even see standing on the stage how far back the audience went."
More footage from the event can be found on Trump's social media page.
