Oregon DMV Caught Allowing People of Unknown Citizenship Register to Vote
One of the biggest topics of discussion leading into this year’s election was voter fraud.
Yet, once again, some states were more than lax in registering voters.
For instance, in Oregon, the state DMV was caught processing more than 54,000 voter registrations of individuals without confirmed citizenship.
Fix It
Democrats love to talk about free and fair elections, yet they do everything in their power to fight both.
They are adamantly against voter ID laws.
To that point, in many blue states, including California, you only need to answer a few questions in order to vote… no ID is needed at all.
Oregon is following a similar path when people register at the local Department of Motor Vehicles office.
All you need to do is tell the clerk you are a citizen, and it would appear that they will enter you into the voter rolls.
State Rep. Ed Diehl, a Republican, explained, “If you don’t prove that you’re not a U.S. citizen, then you will be asked if you want to self-attest to being a citizen, and they will assist you with registering to vote.”
The controversy over possible non-citizens getting on to the voter rolls has paused the current system the state has been using.
Kevin Glenn, communications director for the Oregon Department of Transportation, confirmed this, stating, “That process is on hold while an external audit of the program is conducted.”
He continued, “If, during a transaction with DMV, a person presents an identity document that does not prove they are a U.S. citizen, but also does not indicate they are not a U.S. citizen (e.g. immigration document, foreign passport), we offer the person the opportunity to register to vote.
“That requires the person certify they are a U.S. citizen.”
Under the new system, more than 54,600 people were registered to vote from June 2021 to October 2024.
If I didn’t know better, I would think Democrats wanted looser voting restrictions hoping that non-citizens would vote, but they would never do that, would they?
Now that Republicans have complete control of Congress, maybe we can get a national voter ID law passed.
They would still need a handful of Democrats to make this happen, but I am sure a deal can be made to make this happen.
