Ohio to Leave Biden Off Ballot Unless Convention Date Changes

Joe Biden has a problem regarding the Ohio ballot.

The state requires that the candidate be certified at least 90 days before the election.

Since the Democrat National Convention is not being held until August 19, Biden’s candidacy will be certified 12 days too late, therefore, making him ineligible to be on the ballot in November.

Sorry, Joe

This has happened in the past, and state legislatures have always come around with a fix to ensure the candidate would be on the ballot.

Ohio, however, does not appear ready to bend for Biden.

A legislative fix has been ruled out, and the Biden campaign has been informed that, as things stand, Joe Biden will not be on the presidential election ballot.

This would more or less forfeit the state’s electoral votes to Donald Trump, a state he is likely to win anyway.

Currently, Trump is crushing Biden in Ohio, up by nearly 10 points in polling.

The Ohio Senate did pass legislation that would have enabled certification within 74 days, but the House adjourned before voting on it, which is why the legislative fix has been withdrawn.

Democrats can try to sue to have this changed, force the governor to call for a special session, or they can change the dates of their convention, which would be quite an undertaking considering the arrangements that have already likely been made on this front.

To me, this just seems silly because it will not be a good look for Republicans, who are complaining about election interference with Trump’s legal cases.

And yes, I know, the law is in place, and Democrats should have known better, but as I stated before, this issue has arisen in the past, and the rules were always bent to accommodate the candidates.

When all is said and done, I imagine some type of fix will be arranged, and Biden will end up on that ballot.
