Ocasio-Cortez calls for NYC Mayor Eric Adams to step down amid corruption probe
New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is now calling for New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) to step down amid a corruption probe but prior to his indictment on Thursday for campaign finance violations and influence peddling.
The far-left winger made her objections to Adams' continued leadership known, as she often does, on X.
I do not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City.

"I do not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City," she began. "The flood of resignations and vacancies are threatening gov function, Nonstop investigations will make it impossible to recruit and retain a qualified administration. For the good of the city, he should resign . . ."
"Height of hypocrisy"
Adams gave a scorching response to Ocasio-Cortez via Fox Digital, defiant as he has been since the allegations began to surface.
"For anyone who self-righteously claims people charged with serious crimes should not be in jail to now say that the second Black mayor of New York should resign because of rumors and innuendo — without even a single charge being filed — is the height of hypocrisy," Adams said. "I am leading this city to protect it from exactly that kind of phony politics. The people of this city elected me to fight for them, and I will stay and fight no matter what."
The suspicion surrounding Adams has gone beyond rumors and innuendo with the raids and subpoenas, but he is correct that charges have not (yet) been filed.
It seems that Ocasio-Cortez is less concerned with what he might have actually done and more concerned with the many resignations that have begun to occur as staffers see trouble coming and decide to jump ship.
Mass resignations
In recent weeks, at least four major officials have resigned from Adams' office.
Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan announced Tuesday that he would step down in January to spend more time with his three school-age children.
That move followed resignations from City Hall Chief Counsel Lisa Zornberg, NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, and Schools Chancellor David Banks.
Caban and Banks were raided by the feds along with Adams, but Zornberg and Vasan have not been linked to the investigation in any way.
Adams reacted to the indictment by saying any charges were "entirely false, based on lies."
He claimed that his pushback against the Biden administration sending tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to New York City led to retaliation.
