Obama Taking Heat over Netflix Film

Former President Barack Obama is neck deep in Netflix, and he has a new film coming out where he will show up in the credits as the executive producer.

There is a character in that movie that is generating a lot of interest.

The interest is because that character appears to be racist, warning other characters in the movie about not trusting other people, “especially white people.”

Is This Racist?

The movie is based on Rumaan Alam’s book, “Leave the World Behind.”

The premise of the book was a warning against the role of technology in today’s world as well as an underlying story of fissures that have happened in the country that have created turmoil to the point of seeing the nation implode.

The movie picks up on that narrative, following two families forced to live together after a blackout takes place.

Director Sam Esmail says he consulted with Obama, who signed on as a producer of the film via “Higher Ground,” which is the Obamas production company.

Esmail stated that Obama “had a lot [of] notes about the characters and the empathy we would have for them. I have to say he is a big movie lover, and he wasn’t just giving notes about things that were from his background. He was giving notes as a fan of the book, and he wanted to see a really good film.”

This is the scene in the movie that is generating all the interest…

Libs of TikTok responded, “Netflix film called ‘Leave The World Behind’ produced by the Obamas includes a scene demonizing white people.

“White people are the only group you’re allowed and celebrated to be racist towards and it will be put into movies by the most influential people.”

Another person posted, “The Obamas are two of the most influential people on the planet. Politics aside, you have to agree that their potential power to create good in the world is monumental.

“That’s why seeing that power used to promote racial hatred is deeply disappointing.”

Accusations of racism have surrounded the Obamas ever since Michelle Obama discussed how much she hated living in the White House, so this is only going to add more fuel to that already burning fire.

I have to admit, it is a bit shocking that a former president of the United States would sign off on that line being in the movie when they could have just cut it at “anyone.”
