When things get tough, what do Democrats do these days?
Well, they call up Uncle Obama to bail them out.
Be it a Biden gaffe or, in this case, the conservative effort to keep subject-appropriate books in libraries, Obama is the man they call to rescue them.
Uncle Obama is Back
Obama put out a new video on the Chinese-friendly TikTok to tout some of the books that have been restricted, calling it a "profoundly misguided" effort.
The Kankakee Public Library in Illinois was the focus of the video, featuring some of the more controversial titles in the library, with the Obama speech, and the former president sipping from his official Kankakee Public Library cup.
Harris County Public Library system program director Linda Stevens stated, "To have someone like President Obama appreciating the work that we do, and also sharing our mission for intellectual freedom, it just couldn't come at a better time."
Obama also penned a letter to librarians, in part, stating, "Today, some of the books that shaped my life—and the lives of so many others—are being challenged by people who disagree with certain ideas or perspectives.
"It's no coincidence that these 'banned books' are often written by or feature people of color, Indigenous people, and members of the LGBTQ+ community—though there have also been unfortunate instances in which books by conservative authors or books containing 'triggering' scenes have been targets for removal."

This is an attack against Ron DeSantis, who has put forth a major effort to respect the wishes of parents for age-appropriate content in school libraries.
DeSantis responded, "They are doing that to try to create a narrative, they're not doing that because Florida has a law.
"They're doing it because they know there is enough people in corporate media who will just take that, and run with that… if it is explicit and pornographic, parents have the right to object."
This is a never-ending loop of fingers being pointed, that, quite frankly, is beyond frustrating.
I am just so sick of self-righteous politicians and movie stars who think their opinion is the be-all, end-all over that of the average American.
