Obama Front-and-Canter After 2024 Election Advice Ignored
Barack Obama entered the 2024 surrogacy for Harris fairly late in the game.
As Harris started to spin out of control, the golden child of the Democrat Party tried to come to the rescue.
Obama’s warnings and temper tantrums were ignored, so now Obama is trying to make a bigger footprint in the party.
Coming Back
It always seemed like Obama was hesitant to fully back Harris, and by the time he got into the game for her, this race was more or less decided.
Obama’s answer to Trump’s growing support among younger voters was to chide them publicly and insist they vote for Harris only because she was black.
It was insulting, but Obama now appears to be doubling down on his bad orange man narrative.
On Monday, Obama was in DC to join former General Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Merkel is in town to discuss her new book, which has a host of complaints about Donald Trump.
Obama is also set to have a conference appearance that will feature actor Ryan Reynolds and singer Reyna Roberts.
But does Obama really have the influence he had before after this disastrous loss? Longtime Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf believes he does.
Sheinkopf stated, “His influence is not waning — you can’t get rid of heroes if you can’t replace them. The Democrats have a generational issue and a fundamental identity issue.
“The party has to regroup. The question is — can Barack Obama and the heroes of the past help them do that, or do they need an entire new generation to get to work?”
Brad Bannon, a Democratic strategist, believes that Obama will start to speak publicly more to question Trump’s strategies as president.
He stated, “He is stepping back in the spotlight — you’ll see him talk about national security issues because I think he’s concerned about the direction that the president-elect will take in dismantling NATO and withdrawing support for Ukrainians.
“I think he’s very concerned about the direction that Trump will take in foreign policy and believes that Trump will undermine our national and international posture — so I think that’s what this conversation with Merkel is about, but he wants to stay above the partisan fray.”
This is what Obama does… he sees the country uniting around Donald Trump, so now he will do his best to create a divide again.
I disagree with Sheinkopf because I believe many moderates have simply had enough of Obama, Democrats, and their divisive ways.
The next four years will be a massive test of that. But I firmly believe that if Trump has a successful presidency, it could be a death blow to the Democrat Party, which will then be forced into a rebuild to create a new identity if it wants to win back the White House.
The 2024 election was a major slap in the face, yet these power brokers in the party continue to double down on the same message that was rejected by swing voters.
