NYC voters express desire to remove Adams from office

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Department of Justice filed a motion to recommend dropping the corruption charges against NYC Mayor Eric Adams.

Trump has denied steering the DOJ in this direction, but I am not buying that for one second.

The people of New York have started to speak up on the subject, and they appear to be leaning toward removing Adams from office.

The People Have Spoken

After the DOJ made the request to have the charges dropped, Trump was directly asked if this was an order from him, to which he replied, “I didn’t. I know nothing about it. I did not."

I am not buying it, however, because Trump was already talking about pardoning Adams, and we know Adams has been receptive to Trump's immigration plan.

We also know that anyone taking over for Adams will be far more difficult to work with, so it is in Trump's best interests to keep Adams in place.

I have been clear: I do not support the pardon because political corruption is among the top crimes I cannot stand, and I think letting Adams off the hook before the trial is horrible optics, regardless of whether Trump knew about the request (and I would guarantee Trump led this effort).

New Yorkers are now weighing in on Adams, and they have overwhelmingly expressed a negative view of him.

In the city, 55% have an unfavorable opinion of him, with that number being 52% and 50% within the state and nationwide respectively.

I should note, Adams has been struggling with his approval ratings for some time, facing a 60% disapproval rating in 2023 among NYC voters.

A whopping 60% of those surveyed are concerned about corruption.

Adams pulled a page out of Trump's book after the indictment came down, claiming he was being politically persecuted for having questioned Biden's immigration policies.

I have always maintained that the only reason Adams switched gears on this front was to gain favor with Trump to possibly get a pardon if he was convicted, and it worked.

For me, Adams must be forced to stand trial to prove whether he is guilty of the allegations against him.
