Okay… things are officially getting out of hand.
The mayor of New York City has sent his own delegation to the southern border.
The purpose: a fact-finding mission.
This is a PR stunt by Mayor Adams and nothing more.
I could probably write the conclusion of his little delegation right now because we all know they will slam Governor Abbott when they get back.
Adams' office stated, "We've sent members of the team down on a fact-finding mission to hear directly from folks on the ground along the southern border and get the real answers we're not getting from Texas, including whether they are sending asylum seekers to New York City even if they prefer to go elsewhere.
"Here in New York, we will continue to welcome asylum seekers with open arms, as we learn more about the process, meet with real partners, and see, firsthand, the reportedly inhumane conditions in which asylum seekers are being subjected to by the state of Texas."
What I would like to see happen is Abbott meet them at the airport and tell them they are not welcome.
Realistically, however, Abbott needs to be as transparent as possible and document every stop of this little tour to ensure Democrats are not twisting the facts once they return to New York.
They have already made up their minds what they will say, so Abbott needs to prove them as liars.
