NYC Mayor Adams claims prosecutorial misconduct
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is taking a page right out of Trump’s playbook to push back against his indictment.
Adams is trying to have his case dismissed, claiming prosecutorial misconduct.
Sadly, rather than allow the corruption charges to play out, Trump has already chimed in, claiming that the case against Adams is politically motivated and baseless… only it is not.
Political Corruption
When it comes to crimes not involving the abuse of women, children, and animals, there is no crime I despise more than political corruption.
Adams is innocent until proven guilty, but the charges against him are legitimate and horrifying in terms of violating the public trust.
And let’s be serious here, with the number of Adams administration officials who have also been charged with various forms of corruption, what are the chances that Adams is actually innocent here?
Adams has been charged with "conspiracy to commit wire fraud, federal program bribery, and to receive campaign contributions by foreign nationals", wire fraud, two counts of solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national and bribery.
Among other crimes, he allegedly took gifts worth over $100,000 from a Turkish official and Turkish citizens.
Adams stated that he would be willing to work with Trump regarding immigration, which immediately got Trump in Adams’ corner to the point the Trump DOJ ordered prosecutors to drop the charges against Adams (that request is still awaiting a decision by the judge).
Let me go on record and be very clear… I do not support this decision.
Basically, Trump is sending out the signal that it does not matter how corrupt you are, as long as you are willing to help his administration, he will look the other way, or worse, help you get out of trouble.
This is a serious violation of public trust, yet the Trump administration wants to let him off the hook because he is willing to play ball. I mean, where do we draw the line?
I would also note that in the overall scheme of things, Adams is not even a real player, as he cannot do anything about existing laws in the city and state, not to mention he is likely going to lose re-election. Point being, Trump is putting his chips into the middle of the table for someone that will be gone in a few months.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has already made a move to challenge New York sanctuary laws, so why not allow the Adams case to play out and look at the evidence presented, then make a decision as to his innocence or guilt.
Trump says he is a president of law and order, yet he just pardoned January 6 defendants who beat on police officers, and now he is letting an alleged corrupt Democrat politician off the hook.
I support a lot of what Trump is doing in office right now. I love the immigration stance, and I support downsizing the government, but I cannot get behind allowing a possibly corrupt Democrat and violent offenders off the hook like this. There is simply no way I can get behind this.
