NY AG tells hospitals to defy Trump orders
New York Attorney General Letitia James said she would fight back against Trump's rules, and she is.
On February 3, James reportedly sent a letter to New York healthcare professionals to tell them to defy one of Trump’s new executive orders.
The order in question was to put a halt to transition surgeries for minors.
Defying Trump
James told the healthcare professionals that according to New York state law, they must provide services to “transgender individuals,” as it is discriminatory not to give these desired services.
Her letter reportedly stated, “Electing to refuse services to a class of individuals based on their protected status, such as withholding the availability of services from transgender individuals based on their gender identity or their diagnosis of gender dysphoria, while offering such services to cisgender individuals, is discrimination under New York law.”
After Donald Trump issued his order, reports surfaced that doctors across the country had been canceling transition surgeries.
Days after the order, “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,” the White House touted the cancelations.
The statement read, “It’s already having its intended effect — preventing children from being maimed and sterilized by adults perpetuating a radical, false claim that they can somehow change a child’s sex.
“Hospitals around the country are taking action to downsize or eliminate their so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ programs.”
The order by Trump threatens to withhold federal funding to any hospital that continues to offer these surgical options to minor children.
I have to be honest here… I fully back this order. I don’t think we should be allowing a child not old enough to stay at home alone or even to what will be had for dinner that night to mutilate their body in this fashion.
As an adult, I don’t care what they do, but today’s society is so suggestive that most kids could easily be steered into thinking they are something they are not. A phase suddenly becomes a lifestyle choice they regret later in life.
I am sickened by parents who think it is okay to allow a 12-year-old child to have surgery like this. Just give them time to grow and discover themselves… that is all anyone is asking here.
