NY AG: Seize Trump Assets If He Does Not Pay Fine

Last week, Judge Engoron dropped a massive judgment against Donald Trump.

Engoron ruled in favor of New York Attorney General Letitia James, hitting Trump with a fine of more than $350 million, not including penalties, which brings the total closer to half a billion.

Trump now has 30 days to pay the fine and file for an appeal, and if he does not, James is committed to going after his assets right away.

Pay the Man His Money

Donald Trump has already stated that he is going to appeal the case, but he needs to pay the fine in full in order to do that.

Trump can do this by paying the full amount out of pocket, or he can get a bond, where he will have to put up 10% of the money, which is still close to $50 million.

In a recent column, Jonathan Turley stated that win or lose, Trump forfeits the money for a bond, so he is going to take a massive hit either way.

To add insult to injury, Trump is getting hit with interest of about $90,000 per day until the fine is paid.

When those 30 days are over, appeal or not, Letitia James is going to get her money.

She has already told the media that if Trump does not pay the fine, she will start seizing assets, and she has Trump Tower in New York at the top of her list of assets she wants to take over.

James stated, “If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets.”

Keep in mind that Trump also has to pay author E. Jean Carroll more than $80 for the defamation lawsuit that Trump lost, a ruling that he stated he would also appeal.

And I just thought of something else... a little bell went off in my head.

Was this James' plan all along, and is this why Trump's properties were valued so low in the case? The lower the value placed by the court, the more the state can seize to make good on this debt.

If James goes into seizure mode, this could be far more devastating than Trump selling off some properties to pay this fine... he could literally lose everything.
