Number of government employees accepting Trump's buyout increases past 75,000
Despite a judge trying to block Donald Trump's buyout offer for federal workers, it would appear as though thousands of those workers would like to take advantage of Trump's offer.
News Nation is reporting that Trump's buyout offer has currently been accepted by about 77,000 federal workers.
If Trump's offer was as terrible as this judge is pretending it is, then why have an increasing number of federal employees decided to take it?
On February 10, it was reported that 65,000 federal employees had taken the buyout. By February 12, that number had grown to 75,000. It grew again to 77,000 on February 13.
Donald Trump promised on the campaign trail that he was going to drain the swamp that is America's federal government, and it didn't take long for him to keep his promise.
Shortly after taking office, Trump started working on reducing the size of America's bloated federal government.
Liberals love big government, but America's federal workforce has grown so large that Trump thinks things could run way more inefficiently.
Surely you've heard the phrase "too many cooks in the kitchen," and that's exactly what Donald Trump is trying to suggest by hiring Elon Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency.
American taxpayers should not be footing the bill for a bloated federal payroll.
A judge tried to block the program, but it would appear as though it's moving forward.
McLaurine Pinover, a spokesperson for the Office of Personnel Management, said that she's pleased a court rejected the effort to strike down the program.
"There is no longer any doubt: the deferred resignation program was both legal and a valuable option for federal employees. This program was carefully designed, thoroughly vetted, and provides generous benefits so federal workers can plan for their futures," Pinover said.
If Trump wasn't making these government employees a reasonable offer, then 77,000 of them wouldn't have accepted it already.
