NJ Gov. Phil Murphy says America vulnerable to drone incursions

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy thinks that he has PROOF that America needs to wake up and take its national security more seriously.

The drone sightings over New York and New Jersey, although harmless, prove that America is not ready to handle a potential drone attack, according to the governor.

Authorities have said that these drones are perfectly harmless and look what a mess they're still causing.

But imagine if these drones did have spy equipment or weapons attached to them?

Murphy is saying that the chaos these innocent drones caused is serious evidence that America wouldn't do well if ever actually attacked by drones.

"Now we can say this based on the most sophisticated drone detection systems on the planet that started to arrive in New Jersey last Friday and Saturday, there is no public threat here, period. I could say that unequivocally," Murphy said on his Ask Gov. Murphy program.

However, he added, "that doesn’t mean Jersey or the country as a whole is not at risk."

"The part that should worry really out there is the vulnerability that we as a nation have to drone incursions," Murphy said. "It's a big issue."

Luckily, this time, America is getting a benign and harmless wake-up call. Murphy compared it to the alternative, a disaster that makes the country snap into shape, such as the 9/11 terror attacks.

"Thank God nobody’s gotten hurt here, nobody’s gotten injured. Nobody’s -- thank God -- passed," Murphy added. "But we as a nation are vulnerable. We must address that. We must address it sooner than later, and New Jersey’s not immune."

While Murphy is worried about future drone attacks, he says he can confirm we're not facing one right now.

Apparently, advanced drone detection equipment has identified the devices as "a combination of commercial, law enforcement, military, and hobbyist aircraft."

"A month ago, there may have been suspicious activity," Murphy added. "We did not have those sophisticated [detection] systems that we now have had for the past week … We probably will never know."
