NFL OK with Trending Trump Dance
There is a sweeping trend in sports right now, and it all centers around Donald Trump.
Some NFL players have taken to doing the “Trump Dance” during TD and sack celebrations.
The NFL was asked for its comments on the dance, and liberals are not going to be happy.
It’s Fine
The word “dance” is a bit of a loose term, as I would describe it more as a bit of a shimmy shake.
During some of Trump’s events, has stood front and center, doing a little shimmy with his hips while waving his arms back and forth.
The dance move has gone viral, and is featured in thousands of memes on the internet.
However, after Trump won the election, it has worked its way into NFL celebrations.
So much so, the NFL was asked to ban the move so as not to offend our liberal counterparts.
These are the same people who welcome social justice messages being allowed on helmets, kneeling for the anthem, etc.
When 49ers star player Nick Bosa donned a MAGA hat on national TV, he was fined $11,255, so most thought the dance would be banned as well, but the NFL has ruled this is not an overtly political statement.
The Raiders Brock Bowers did the dance this past weekend after scoring, as did the Titans WR Calvin Ridley.
Bowers, when asked about the move, cowardly blamed it on MMA fighter Jon Jones, a Trump supporter, who did the dance after his big win this past weekend.
Bowers stated, “I’ve seen everyone do it … I watched the UFC fight last night and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC, so I saw it and thought it was cool.”
When the NFL was asked about taking action, it declined, saying, “It’s up to the networks to cover them as they see fit.”
In several instances, the networks have cut away from players when they started to do the dance, or have posted highlight clips that end right before the dance, which is not normal.
In most cases, the networks show the TD through the celebration dance.
I guess this is just a bit much for liberals to take…
