New York Times Run Hit Piece on Justice Roberts Over Trump Cases

It would appear that Chief Justice John Roberts is now on the hit list of the mainstream media.

The New York Times ran a recent column on Roberts and how he guided the other justices in the recent cases that came before the court regarding Donald Trump.

They are taking what is the Chief Justice's job and trying to make him appear as though he is doing Trump’s bidding.

Just Doing His Job

Numerous internal memos between the justices were recently leaked to the New York Times.

The framing by the NYT was clearly to create a revolt against Roberts and distrust for the Supreme Court.

The piece was headlined, “How Roberts Shaped Trump’s Supreme Court Winning Streak,” with a subheader of, “Behind the scenes, the chief justice molded three momentous Jan. 6 and election cases that helped determine the former president’s fate.”

In one section, the author quotes a line from the memo, stating, “I think it likely that we will view the separation of powers analysis differently” then the author writes, “In other words: grant Mr. Trump greater protection from prosecution.”

That is hardly what Roberts was saying, and that was far from what the court actually decided.

Let me say this again for the umpteenth time… the Supreme Court decision regarding Trump immunity did not change anything that was already on the books.

All that decision did was reaffirm that official acts of a president are immune from prosecution, but not all acts are considered official acts.

This is why the case was kicked back down to the lower courts to classify what actions Trump did to be considered as official acts or acts of a private citizen.

In the superseding indictment, Special Counsel Jack Smith made it quite clear to Judge Chutkan which acts he perceived to be those of candidate Donald Trump, but she will have the final word on those actions.

This piece is about as dangerous as it gets for both Roberts and the Supreme Court as a whole.

Roberts’ job as the Chief Justice is to take the lead and guide the court to its decision. He does this by hearing everyone out and moving the case along as he sees fit based on that input.

He did nothing wrong here, and he surely did not give Trump the advantages that the NYT piece suggests he did.

Again, state-run media doing the Democrats bidding for them. It gets more dangerous in this country with every passing day in terms of the vision our Founding Fathers had for the free press and our constitutional republic.
