New Poll Offers Insight into Georgia Senate Runoff Between Walker and Warnock

A new Georgia Senate poll shows Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock with a slight lead against GOP hopeful Herschel Walker.

The AARP poll revealed Tuesday shows Warnock ahead at 51% to 47%.

"Warnock holds a strong 24-point lead among voters 18 to 49 years of age, while Walker is up nine percentage points among Georgia voters ages 50 and over," Fox News reported.

"According to the poll, 51% of respondents have a favorable opinion of Warnock. Only 45% have a favorable opinion of Walker, while more of the voters surveyed, 49%, have an unfavorable opinion of the political newcomer," it added.

"More independent voters favor Warnock, according to the survey, which showed 54% now support him, (the senator netted the support of about 46% of independent voters in the midterm election versus Walker's 30%), though Walker has also seen a boost among independent voters since the election (39% in the new poll versus 30% on Election Day)," Forbes noted regarding the survey.

"Warnock has the edge over Walker among Black voters—89% to 8%—and while more white voters have moved toward Warnock since the midterm election, Walker still leads among the demographic by wide margins: 67% versus Warnock's 31%," it added.

The numbers are close, yet express concern for conservatives ahead of the Dec. 6 runoff.

The current Senate number stands at 50-49 in favor of Democrats. Losing one more seat could have tough consequences in the Senate.

Democrats would then be able to block Republicans from key committees and have even greater influence in the upper chamber.

The importance of the election looms larger as both parties invest millions to secure the final Senate seat.
