VP's cousin backtracks on labeling Trump, JD Vance as 'useful idiots'
Whether colorful photographic memes or broadly disparaging comments, JD Vance has had to fight against attacks on his personality ever since he became vice president of the United States of America.
Well, he just got a big win when it comes to insults leveled by his own cousin, Nate Vance.
During a recent podcast appearance, Nate Vance took back a recent comment calling J.D. Vance and President Donald Trump “Putin’s useful idiots.”
Nate Vance appeared on an episode of Matt Tardio’s podcast, Speak the Truth, and that is when the host asked his guest if he would change anything in regard to the comment he made about his cousin and the president.
“That useful idiots thing -- I was spouting, I was pretty pissed off, I was pretty mad. I gotta own it. I said it,” Vance said. Hopefully, as many people hear this comment as listened to the "idiots" comments when it was originally said.
“But…yeah, that is a product of anger and a loss of temper and a lack of, admittedly, a lack of understanding of a lot of things that were probably going on behind closed doors,” Vance explained.
“You’re allowed to, like, say something and then be like, hey, now I saw some new evidence that shows me that that’s maybe not correct,” he added.
Nate Vance, who has spent the last few years fighting against Russia in Ukraine, agreed to an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro.
Vance, who was furious about the way his cousin and President Trump handled their meeting with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, gave harsh criticism of the pair in the interview.
“They are wrong. The Russians are not about to forget our support for Ukraine. We are Vladimir Putin’s useful idiots,” Vance said in the paper.
J.D. Vance was quick to address the interview from his cousin, saying that “I love my cousin Nate, and never spoke publicly about his service in Ukraine because I didn’t want to endanger his life more than it already was.”
“As far as his criticisms, I have no interest in arguing with him in public, but I do feel the need to address one issue in particular: his failed effort to contact me,” he added.
It seems that Nate Vance has come to his senses regarding publicly disparaging the most successful member of his family.
While it can be hard to tell if Nate made his apology because he meant it, or he just didn't want to look like an idiot in front of America, the words were said regardless.
