Nancy Mace introduces bill to stop funding for migrant hotel stays

Republican Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina has introduced a new bill that is making headlines.

The bill would stop the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) from “bankrolling luxury stays” for illegal immigrants, Breitbart reports.

Mace’s proposal goes by the name of the “Alien Removal Not Resort Stays Act.”

It would essentially take the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s funding for sheltering illegal aliens and put it to better use.

The money would be given to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s efforts to detain and deport illegal immigrants.

“The past four years have been a free-for-all for illegal aliens—sanctuary cities handing out benefits and Biden’s DHS waving people through like it’s a theme park entrance,” Mace said.

“The left has spent billions of our tax dollars housing illegal aliens in hotels. It’s insanity, and it stops now. If you break our laws, you shouldn’t get a taxpayer-funded stay at a resort—you should be detained and deported. It’s time to shut off the gravy train.”

It was just earlier in the month that a nearly $60 million dollar tab had been discovered by the Department of Government Efficiency – the money had been spent to house illegal immigrants in “luxury hotels in New York City.”

Many Republicans are furious over the $60 million dollar finding because just last year the Biden administration stood in front of them and swore FEMA was not using any funding to house illegal immigrants.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to confirm she had “dealt with it quickly.”

“I have clawed back the full payment that FEMA deep state activists unilaterally gave to NYC migrant hotels,” she began in the X post.

“FEMA was funding the Roosevelt Hotel that serves as a Tren de Aragua base of operations and was used to house Laken Riley’s killer,” Noem went on.

“Mark my words: there will not be a single penny spent that goes against the interest and safety of the American people,” she concluded in the post.
