More Legal Scholars Push for Justice Sonya Sotomayor to Retire

Even with all of Donald Trump’s legal problems and lack of funding, he continues to lead Joe Biden in key battleground states in polling.

This has Democrats in a bit of a panic that Trump could win, with Republicans hoping to hold the White House for 12 consecutive years if he does.

If that happens, Sotomayor will more than likely be replaced with a conservative justice, and that is terrifying liberals.

Make Her Step Down

Three of the four oldest justices on the court are Republicans, but not to the point that they could not last another four years if Joe Biden happens to win this election.

There is little doubt that if Biden does win, there is no way the Dems could win again in 2028 with what this man has done to this country.

Rest assured, if Biden wins, it will be an anti-Trump vote, not a pro-Biden vote.

However, if Trump wins, Republicans are looking at the possibility of holding the White House for at least 12 years, possibly longer if they have success.

By that time, Sotomayor would be in her 80s, and she is already having health concerns, so Democrats want her to step down now to allow Biden to appoint her replacement.

Paul Campos, a law professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, is among those hoping that Sotomayor will step down so that there will not be another Ruth Bader Ginsburg “incident.”

He stated, “Sotomayor has been an outstanding justice.

“But the Ruth Bader Ginsburg precedent ought to be extremely sobering. … The cost of her failing to be replaced by a Democratic president with a Democratic Senate would be catastrophic.”

Lucas Powe Jr., a Supreme Court historian at the University of Texas at Austin, added, “I would love to see Sotomayor retire.

“I would love to trade her for a 50-year-old justice.”

Thus far, however, Sotomayor has not given any indication that she is ready to step down.

This pressure will grow significantly in the coming months and will surely be influenced by how polls are doing as spring passes us by.

If Trump is still leading Biden in the polls after his first case has concluded, you better believe that pressure on Sotomayor will become more significant and the calls for her to resign will be far louder.
