More Details About Tyson Punching JetBlue Passenger Come to Light

On April 20, 2022, Mike Tyson became an internet sensation again.

It was not for Tyson’s brutality in the ring, but rather on a JetBlue flight.

Tyson’s alleged victim in the case has now filed suit against Tyson and JetBlue, with the suit being filed in San Francisco on April 19, 2024.

More Details

First, I know what you are thinking… what in the world was Mike Tyson doing flying on JetBlue?

My guess is that after that incident, Tyson stuck to flying private to ensure this never happened again.

During that flight, Tyson was sitting in front of Melving George Townsend.

According to Tyson, the passenger was harassing him and eventually threw a bottle at Tyson. Tyson then responded by standing up and allegedly punching the man repeatedly.

Townsend initially stated that he had not thrown the bottle, but was instead offered psilocybin mushrooms by Tyson, which he declined.

After some back and forth, Townsend said that Tyson became agitated, which is when Tyson started giving him a beatdown.

Here is a news report about the incident at the time…

After the incident became public knowledge, Tyson, stated, "I shouldn't even be taking public planes.

“My wife gets mad that I take public planes but what am I gonna do on a f---ing plane with my friends and, what, I guess ... a bodyguard and a f---ing Yes Man? What am I gonna do on a plane? It triggers me."

Charges were never filed against Tyson, but that has not stopped Townsend from trying to make a quick money grab from Tyson with this suit (click here to read the full filing).

In my opinion, Townsend's story in that lawsuit was pretty creative.

I was obviously not there, but from the pictures and videos I have seen of the incident, his account does not appear to be 100% truthful.

We will find out soon enough if the court believes him or Tyson on that front.
