It would appear that the race in Florida is, for all intents and purposes, over.
Without money, Crist, who is already down a mountain to Governor DeSantis, will never make his way back into the race.
Donors have packed up and left, so Crist has been left to flounder on his own.
Time to Go
Honestly, it would appear that the money train people never thought Crist had all that much of a chance to begin with.
For instance, Michael Bloomberg dumped $100 million into Florida during the 2020 cycle.
This time, he spent $1.5 million.
The Democratic Governors Association paid out over $14 million during the last two cycles.
It only ponied up $685,000 this time around.
The GOP was able to raise $200 million in the state, while Democrats took in a mere $29 million.
Greg Goddard, a Florida Democratic fundraiser, sounded panicked.
He stated, “If Democrats follow this building national narrative and decide not to compete in Florida in 2024, it will be one of the most short-sighted decisions of the last 30 years.
“Where do we think the pathway to winning a future presidential election lies?”
Florida has always been considered the Holy Grail of battleground states, but it is looking pretty red these days.
