Mike Pence Speaks Out in Support of Justice Clarence Thomas

Former Vice President Mike Pence spoke out in support of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas after attacks against the longtime member of the nation's highest court.

Pence took to Twitter to support Thomas following the recent criticisms of the conservative leader.

"Ever since his nomination to the Supreme Court in 1991 Justice Thomas has been maliciously attacked by the Left, including by then Sen. Joe Biden," Pence said in a tweet.

"The attacks on his character are continuing today, and it's appalling to see," Pence continued.

"Clarence Thomas is a man of integrity with an inspiring personal story and has upheld the ideals enshrined in our Constitution throughout his life without compromise," he added in the series of tweets.

"Our Nation is fortunate to have Justice Thomas serving on the Highest Court of the Land. God bless Justice Clarence Thomas," he continued.

Thomas has been blasted in recent weeks over claims that he received gifts from a Republican donor that were not reported. Legal counsel for Thomas has stated that he has complied with all reporting guidelines.

Some Democrats have called for Thomas to resign over the controversy, pushing for him to be replaced by a Biden-nominated justice.

The attacks come just months after Thomas supported the court's ruling that returned laws concerning abortion to individual states, a move angering abortions-rights activists.

Despite attacks on Thomas, Pence is among a number of conservatives speaking out in support of the justice. Pence's words also come as he continues to consider a run for president in 2024 after his former boss and former President Donald Trump.
