Mike Gallagher Leaves Congress Early

A shock departure from the House of Representatives just threw a BIG wrench into the plans of the GOP.

Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher (WI) announced his plans to step down earlier than anticipated and shocked Republicans everywhere.

Gallagher released a recent statement confirming the news no one wanted to hear.

“Four terms serving Northeast Wisconsin in Congress has been the honor of a lifetime and strengthened my conviction that America is the greatest country in the history of the world. I will forever be proud of the work I did on the Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, chairing the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, and chairing the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party,” Gallagher said in his statement.

Unfortunately, losing a Republican member of the House is never want you want to hear.

The Republicans will only have the majority vote by four seats.

However, now that Gallagher has decided to step aside, that number jumps to five.

Gallagher is not the only one who has recently announced their decision to step down.

Reps. Kevin McCarthy, Brian Higgins, Bill Johnson, and Ken Buck have all decided to let a new member take over their positions.

Buck also shared a resignation statement after he decided to step down from his post.

“It has been an honor to serve the people of Colorado's 4th District in Congress for the past 9 years. I want to thank them for their support and encouragement throughout the years. Today, I am announcing that I will depart Congress at the end of next week. I look forward to staying involved in our political process, as well as spending more time in Colorado and with my family” said Buck his is statement announcing his resignation.

Gallagher, however, has not explicitly confirmed his reason for deciding to no longer remain in the House.

Why do you think Gallagher stepped down?
