Michigan Republican Removed from Committee Over Racist Post

The GOP is fighting for its political life right now, and we simply cannot afford controversies, especially racist controversies.

Biden has been struggling with minority voters, and as conservatives, we have a rare opportunity to draw in more minorities and expand the reach of conservatism.

Actions like that of State Rep. Josh Schriver (R-MI) will not help our case.

Remove Him

Schriver has been accused by Michigan House Democrats of posting racist comments online.

According to the report, he shared a post about the “great replacement theory” that was considered “racial rhetoric.”

Democrat House Speaker Joe Tate has since removed Schriver from his committee assignments.

He also stated, “I will not allow the Michigan House of Representatives to be a forum for the proliferation of racist, hateful and bigoted speech.

“Schriver has a history of promoting debunked theories and dangerous rhetoric that jeopardizes the safety of Michigan residents and contributes to a hostile and uncomfortable environment for others.”

Schriver has reposted something that was put up on X by Jack Posobiec, a right-wing pundit.

The post had a picture of white people outnumbered by black people, with the caption, “The great replacement.”

Schriver spoke to the Detroit News about the post, defending himself, stating, “I’m opposed to racists, race baiters, and victim politics.

“What I find strange is the agenda to demoralize and reduce the white portion of our population.

“That’s not inclusive and Christ is inclusive! I’m glad Tucker Carlson and Jack Posobiec are sharing links so I can continue my research on these issues.”

The great replacement theory has been embraced by conspiracy theorists, which makes it poison in terms of being able to be used as political rhetoric, and Schriver had to know this.

There are far better ways to make a point than by traveling down this road, especially when you know the left will jump all over it to cause problems for Republicans and conservatives in general.

I am not saying it is right or wrong, but what I am saying is that elected conservatives need to be a lot smarter with what they post online, especially in an election where we are going to have to bring in more minorities in order to retake seats that were already lost to Democrats in 2022.
