Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Releasing Book Involved in 7-Figure Deal Ahead of Election

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a potential candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, has reportedly secured a significant book deal with Simon & Schuster, set to be released as early as June.

According to sources, Whitmer's seven-figure book deal was made through an auction, indicating a rush to publish the book.

Speculation around Whitmer's presidential aspirations has grown, with insiders suggesting she could be a top-tier contender in the 2028 election or even earlier if President Biden's health deteriorates rapidly.

The timing of the book's release is expected to generate political discussions, considering Whitmer's potential future role in national politics.

A well-connected Democratic source mentioned that if Biden were to face health issues, there are individuals within the Democratic Party who would actively support Whitmer's candidacy for either the presidency or vice presidency.

Whitmer is viewed as the party's future by the Democratic apparatus, with a perception that she brings a less glossy and annoying approach compared to other figures like California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

While Rep. Dean Phillips expressed a desire to see Whitmer or another moderate governor challenge Biden before launching his own presidential run, Whitmer, currently serving as a co-chair of the Biden 2024 campaign, has publicly supported the president.

"This president has delivered on some really important fronts," Whitmer said about Biden's campaign. "People are not paying attention to every little thing. They're just trying to make sure they keep the heat on and get their kids off to school.

"I think when there's a matchup, it will be much clearer who's fighting for people, and I think this president has a great record on that front."

Despite her association with Biden, Whitmer's book deal and its accelerated release suggest a strategic move in building her national profile.

During a recent interview, Whitmer hinted at the possibility of writing a book, stating that it might be something she wants to do in the future.

She mentioned the potential for a short book discussing various aspects of her views, adding an element of anticipation to her literary venture.
