Michelle Obama Surprises High School Students On College Signing Day

When former first lady Michelle Obama put pen to paper to sight the contract for this appearance, she probably thought she was doing these high school students a big favor.

Instead, she turned what should have been a very special day to them into a self-centered rant about her past accomplishments.

“Look, on a day when so much is about looking ahead, I just want to take a little moment to look back with you all. Because I know it has been a long, hard road for all of you to make it to this day … and [there] has been nothing normal about this journey, especially that your class has been through,” Mrs. Obama said in the speech.

What seemed like a strong start quickly turned into the Michelle Obama show.

“Now, I know that even on a day like this … maybe some of you are feeling some trepidation, some nerves about what’s to come … especially if you are a first-generation college student like I was,” she said.

It sure didn’t take Michelle Obama long to turn the focus on her!

“My goal then was to make sure that every student realized the importance of getting their education beyond high school and to ensure that everyone had the resources, information, and the tools to make that happen,” she also said.

Obama did not stop there.

“But, more importantly, I wanted students to know that higher education wasn’t just for the privileged few, for the kids with connections and money who were expected to fill those seats on college campuses,” she continued.

It seems that the former first lady may have forgotten that she is not speaking at a campaign, but someone’s high school graduation!

In true Obama fashion, Michelle took a situation that should have been all about glorifying someone else and made it all about herself.

What do you think of Michelle Obama’s recent speech?
