It has been quite some time since the tragic death of Chef Tafari Campbell was announced.
Campbell was paddleboarding by the Obama complex at Martha’s Vineyard when he drowned.
Michelle Obama finally got around to saying a few words to honor the young man, reports The Hill.
Time for Some Attention
The time to do this was immediately after his death.
When someone with the profile of Michelle Obama waits this long, this tells me she is in need of attention, making the death about her instead of Campbell.
Her “tribute” only drives that point forward even more.
She posted, “I will miss my friend, Tafari.
“The emptiness is hard. But I promise to stay strong, keep living, and honor your legacy in every way possible.”
In just three lines, she managed to use the word “I” twice… as I stated, this was about her, not Campbell.
Campbell was a sous chef when he worked for the White House, and Obama asked him to join his personal staff at the end of his second term.
Campbell agreed, leaving the White House to serve as Obama’s personal chef. Pretty elaborate for a man that entered the White House with credit card debt.
Cambell was paddleboarding with another staffer just off the Obama compound when he apparently fell in and struggled to stay above water.
Authorities found him about 100 feet offshore.
The Obama family was not present at the time, which had a lot of people wondering why Campbell was even at the compound.
I would imagine he was primarily stationed there for the majority of the summer, as the Obamas spend a considerable amount of time on the island during the summer months. I would wager that when they are away, this is considered his time off since he probably works day in and day out when they are in town.
I truly feel for this man’s family and their loss, but Michelle Obama’s “tribute” makes me want to vomit.
