Melania Trump to earn at least $28M from Amazon documentary deal

Donald Trump may be known as one of the best businessmen in the world, but that doesn't mean he's the only one in his family who knows his way around a lucrative deal.

Melania Trump recently signed an agreement with Amazon that will earn her at least $28 million for licensing her life story to be made into a documentary film, according to a report.

The Wall Street Journal claims that Mrs. Trump is also shopping sponsorship deals for the film.

Even during her husband's inauguration, Melania Trump was hustling.

America's first lady reportedly told blue-chip CEOs at her husband's ceremony that they could be acknowledged at the end of the film's credits if they contributed at least $10 million to the project.

Melania also offered invitations to the documentary's premiere in exchange for monetary backing.

The deal with Amazon came after the online giant's CEO and founder Jeff Bezos travelled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Donald Trump after he demolished Kamala Harris in the November election.

Despite Bezos having a historically fraught relationship with Donald Trump, Melania was able to persuade the mogul to team up with her.

Perhaps Bezos has finally seen the light and is abandoning his Democratic tendencies in favor of the Republican Party Donald Trump has created.

Recently, Bezos has had the Trumps' back by preventing his newspaper's left-leaning editorial board from publishing an endorsement of Kamala Harris and pledging $1 million to Donald Trump's inaugural fund.

Brett Ratner, a Hollywood director known for hits like the Rush Hour trilogy, is reportedly involved with the documentary.

This will be one of Ratner's first major projects in Hollywood since being accused of sexual misconduct during the #MeToo era.

The film will stream on Amazon's Prime Video service.

Melania Trump shopped her life story around to other companies as well, but Netflix and Apple declined to bid on the product. CBS made a $4 million offer, while Disney offered $14 million for the first lady's life story.
