Meghan Markle failing in attempts to win over Hollywood elite: Report
When American actress Meghan Markle married Britain's Prince Harry, it seemed to many that she had the world at her fingertips, but as time goes on, that seems to be far from the case.
As the New York Post reports, citing InTouch, Markle's expansive plans for Hollywood domination are falling flat with those best positioned to further her career.
Podcast problems
It was earlier this spring that Markle, 42, announced a new partnership with Lemonada Media to distribute episodes of her prior podcast series entitled Archetypes and to ultimately produce new episodes of a similar undertaking.
However, news recently broke that the company has delayed the project by at least a year due to concerns about Markle's numerous other ventures taking time away from her commitment to podcasting.
Reportedly central to that decision was Markle's recent launch of American Riviera Orchard, a lifestyle brand said to involve product lines and a Netflix cooking show, something executives at Lemonada viewed as likely to siphon time and resources away from her podcast plans.
So far, American Riviera Orchard, despite a highly produced promotional video and Instagram page, appears to have no products for sale, and the only item seen publicly thus far is a cache of 50 pots of jam sent to influencers and friends of Markle.
“Meghan gets greedy”
Sources inside the Hollywood circles Markle appears interested in charming have not responded well to her marketing efforts thus far, criticizing her seemingly scattershot approach to self-promotion and her apparent unwillingness to put in the work necessary to succeed.
“Meghan gets greedy,” said one insider.
The source added, “She wants everything all at once, and it's backfiring on her again. She's become a total joke and is overplaying her hand.”
Time running out?
When Meghan and Harry departed Britain for sunny California, it was assumed by many that they would be welcomed with open arms as the newest members of Tinsel Town's elite, forging their own path to fame and fortune.
However, flop after flop, combined with public irritation at the pair's willingness to slam the Royal family have led to a fairly dire situation that experts suggest may be difficult to reverse.
The source who spoke to InTouch opined, “Hollywood is glam and glitz on the outside, but the real stars have worked hard for their success – and you get the impression hard work isn't really Meghan's thing,” or Harry's for that matter, and that could spell disaster for their future.
