The divide in the GOP in battleground states is a very real thing.
Look no further than a recent party meeting that took place at the Doherty Hotel in Clare, MI.
The “meeting” ended up with the Clare County GOP Chair going to the hospital for treatment, reported Rolling Stone.
Let’s Rock
Mark DeYoung, chairman of the Clare County Republican Party, claims he never had a chance.
The door to the meeting room was already locked when James Chapman, a Republican from Wayne County, arrived, which apparently triggered him.
DeYoung stated, “He kicked me in my balls as soon as I opened the door,” reported the Daily Caller.
DeYoung collapsed on the floor after the kick, breaking a rib, to add insult to injury, and he was then taken to the local hospital for treatment.
According to Chapman, that is not how it all went down. He claims that DeYoung threatened him, stating, “I’ll kick you’re a$$.”
Chapman claims he took off his glasses before the confrontation, warning, “When you see me taking my glasses off, I’m ready to rock.” I guess we now define “rock” as a cowardly kick in the sack, but, hey, whatever floats your boat.
Police were called, and DeYoung insists he is going to press charges against Chapman, adding, “We’re so divided. I just wish we could come together.”
The Michigan GOP has been a mess since the gubernatorial election in 2022, where five GOP candidates were removed from the ballot.
Democrats rolled in 2022, taking almost complete control of the government in all key positions.
I wish I could say they have a plan to take back at least one chamber but if they cannot even sit in a room together without breaking out into a fight, how are they going to coordinate and get a plan together to have a successful 2024?
