Media Explodes After Melania Abortion Statement
If you listen to the mainstream media, Melania Trump just did something that may have derailed Donald Trump’s entire campaign.
Snippets of her new memoir were leaked to the media, one of them expressing Melania’s “My Body, My Choice” narrative on abortion.
This has created a feeding frenzy among the liberal media talking heads.
Premature?
Listen, Melania is her own woman… anyone that has followed Trump over the years knows this.
He has never been able to control her, and he never will. In other words, his marriage is like 90% of the marriages in this country.
Having said that, her words will be held accountable to Trump in this particular instance, especially since abortion is always top of mind for liberals and Democrats.
In her new book, Melania wrote, “It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government.
“These situations with significant moral implications weigh heavily on the woman and her family and deserve our empathy. Consider, for example, the complexity inherent in the decision of whether the mother should risk her own life to give birth.”
After that was leaked, she doubled down, releasing a video on social media, stating, “Individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I safeguard.
“Without a doubt, there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth. Individual freedom.”
Pro-life groups were fuming, with Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, stating, "Melania Trump’s support of abortion is anti-feminist and clearly outside the teaching of our Catholic faith. She is wrong. Abortion ends an innocent life & is the opposite of empowerment, as women are told they can't balance the gift of children and career, so they have to pick one.
“Christ helps us prosper at home, at school, at work, as mothers, and even as role models. What a lost opportunity to inspire a generation of young women. I won't be buying Melania's book.”
Lila Rose, founder of leading pro-life advocacy group Live Action, also reacted, stating, "Who is this Melania Trump, or Kamala Harris? Functionally the same exact position on abortion.”
Then the media chimed in, as the ladies on “The View” could not wait to pounce.
Co-host Sonny Hostin stated, “I think she hates him. Okay, so we can all agree that. That’s a given. I also think that she wants to take him out. She does not want to be the First Lady any more. She doesn’t want to be the First Lady.
“She destroyed the Rose Garden. Who hates Christmas? Melania Trump hates Christmas. She doesn’t want to decorate for Christmas. She doesn’t want anything to do with him. She doesn’t want to sleep in the same room with him. She can’t tolerate him.”
Former Trump administration official Matt Mowers tried to calm the waters, offering up a view that most men in this country would appreciate.
He stated, “In this case, Melania might have just wanted to make her position known and so that is I think the reason she did it. If you look at the impact it has, I think it actually in some ways helps Donald Trump, I think it makes him more relatable. I can tell you, I don’t agree with my wife on every issue. She agrees with me on even fewer issues and so I think this is actually pretty common.
“In fact, there’s been some studies coming out lately on the difference of men and women going to vote this year compared to 2020. In 2020, they’re all sitting at the kitchen table looking over each other’s shoulders filling out the ballots, this year they’re going to the polling place on their own … So I think this actually broadens Donald Trump’s appeal potentially.”
I have no clue how this will impact Trump, as it could go either way.
One thing I do know, and that is that Trump needs pro-life votes behind him and if this leave him over this, it would cost him the election.
This really sets the whole idea of being able to predict the outcome in a week or so, as we really have to let all this settle in, including the Emhoff scandal for Harris, to get a grip on this race.
I am thinking all the October surprises are over at this point, so let’s have a two-week cool-off period, then we can look at these polls again and figure this all out.
