McConnell Facing Lowest Approval Rating of All Members of Congress

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has never really been a favorite of conservatives, yet the people of Kentucky appear to love him, as he has been in office since 1985 and was re-elected into office in 2020.

Voters pushed back against his leadership role in 2022, but Republican Senators ignored their constituents and McConnell fought off Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) to keep his leadership role in the Senate.

The unhappiness by voters has not dwindled, as McConnell has all but disappeared since suffering a fall and some health issues, now down to a 6% approval rating, the worst of any member of Congress and his career.

Remove Him

McConnell has made a reputation for himself not so much for what he has done in office as for what he has done as an obstructionist, and that would include both sides of the aisle.

McConnell has sided with Joe Biden numerous times during this presidency, and he was not exactly a friend to Donald Trump when he was in office.

Then, of course, there are the times that he helped Barack Obama get legislation passed when he was in office, which included Obama being able to put Obamacare in place as well as the huge bailout legislation that passed in 2008.

That is all reflected in his approval ratings since 2017, ranging from 10% to 21%, but he has never been in single digits as he is now.

Since McConnell has had the role of Senate leadership of the GOP side, the national debt has risen by more than $30 trillion, clearly ignoring the calls of conservatives for more fiscal responsibility.

When voters were asked if McConnell should resign as the GOP Senate leader, a whopping 74% agreed that he needed to go, with only 17% supporting McConnell.

As the Senate leader, McConnell should be out on the campaign trail raising funds and pushing the conservative agenda, but he has barely been heard of since he fell and hit his head during a function, as well as freezing on camera two different times during press conferences.

Let’s just hope Republicans learned their lesson in defying We the People and vote McConnell out as leader in the next term.
