House Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) thought he pulled off a bit of a coup.
Rep. Tlaib (D-MI) wanted to hold an anti-Israel event at the Capitol Visitors Center on Wednesday.
McCarthy booted her from the center, reserved his own event, then gloated that her event was canceled, reports the New York Post.
But, this battle was far from over.
Nothing Stops Detroit
After Tlaib announced her event, McCarthy made his move.
He stated, “This event in the US Capitol is canceled. Instead, I will host a bipartisan discussion to honor the 75th anniversary of the US-Israel relationship.”
McCarthy assumed that was the end of the “Nakba 75 & the Palestinian People” event that Tlaib had planned. Nakba translated means “catastrophe,” so you can see how little Tlaib thinks of our ally Israel.
Instead, she moved her event over to the Senate side of the Capitol, and held it anyway.
Tlaib’s propaganda read, “May 15th marks 75 years since the beginning of the Nakba, which means ‘catastrophe.’ Seventy-five years ago, Zionist militias and the new Israeli military violently expelled approximately three-quarters of all Palestinians from their homes and homeland in what became the state of Israel.”
Tlaib’s event was, in part, organized by Jewish Voice for Peace. The Antidefamation League’s description of the group states that it is a “radical anti-Israel activist group that advocates for a complete economic, cultural and academic boycott of the state of Israel” and that “celebrates figures who have been convicted of engaging in terrorism.”
So, a sitting member of Congress basically brought terrorists to the Capitol, and that is apparently okay with Joe Biden.
Liora Rez, the executive director of the nonprofit group StopAntisemitism, called the group responsible for the event, the Institute for Middle East Understanding, is “one of the top propagators of false anti-Israel rhetoric on social media.”
During her event, Tlaib stated, “The Nakba never ended. Each year our country sends billions to explicitly maintain an apartheid state and support ethnic cleansing without a second thought,” reports the New York Post.
Now, after McCarthy initially canceled Tlaib’s event, he stated that “it’s wrong for members of Congress to traffic in anti-Semitic tropes about Israel.”
So, I now wonder if he will move to censure Tlaib as well as any House member that attended that event.
We literally have terrorist sympathizers in the House of Representatives, and the media and the White House are not saying a word about it.
