Now that House Minority Leader McCarthy (R-CA) is holding the nomination for Speaker of the House, he is getting ready to drop the hammer on Secretary Mayorkas.
McCarthy led a delegation to the border earlier this week.
After arriving and assessing the situation, he offered Mayorkas an ultimatum.
Resign now or face impeachment when McCarthy takes the House.
Time to Go
McCarthy, while holding a presser in El Paso, stated, "His actions have produced the great wave of illegal immigration in recorded history.
"This is why today I am calling on the secretary to resign.
"He cannot and must not remain in that position. If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate every order, every action and every failure to determine whether we can begin an impeachment inquiry."
The Department of Homeland Security immediately responded, stating, "Secretary Mayorkas is proud to advance the noble mission of this Department, support its extraordinary workforce, and serve the American people.
"The Department will continue our work to enforce our laws and secure our border, while building a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system."
Democrats across the board also slammed McCarthy for playing the impeachment card, which is utterly ridiculous considering the Democrats actions when Trump was in office.
DHS continues to push the narrative that Biden inherited a broken immigration system, although it seemed to be working fine to us.
The agency stated, "Members of Congress can do better than point the finger at someone else; they should come to the table and work on solutions for our broken system and outdated laws, which have not been overhauled in over 40 years."
Mayorkas, when pressed last week at a hearing, finally started to express a sense of urgency, although he would not specifically say we are in crisis here, he did state, "The entire hemisphere is suffering a migration crisis. We are seeing an unprecedented movement of people from country to country. It is not restricted to the southern border."
That is about as close as he has ever come to admitting there is a real problem at the border.
