McCarthy Reveals Concerns Over Swalwell After FBI Briefing

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said his concerns to keep Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) off of the House Intelligence Committee was based on a concerning briefing he received from the FBI.

McCarthy said that the briefing made him not want the congressman on any committee based on his compromised position on security issues.

"If you got the briefing I got from the FBI, you wouldn't have Swalwell on any committee," McCarthy said in the press conference.

"And you're going to tell me other Democrats couldn't fill that slot? He cannot get a security clearance in the private sector," McCarthy said. "So would you like to give him a government clearance?"

McCarthy also blasted Democrats for keeping Swalwell on the committee even after they knew about his compromised security situation with China.

"You're going to tell me there are 200 other Democrats that couldn't fill that slot, but they kept him on it? The only way that they even knew it came forward is when they put to nominate him to the Intel committee. And then the FBI came and told the leadership that he's got a problem, and they kept him on. That jeopardized all of us," McCarthy said.

In addition to Swalwell, McCarthy has moved to remove Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from House committees.

"Schiff, who often sparred with Trump, was accused of fabricating and leaking information pertaining to the Russian collusion narrative," the Epoch Times reported.

"The former president in late 2019, amid the first impeachment inquiry, asserted that Schiff 'lied to Congress' when he 'fraudulently' changed the words of a transcript between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy," it added.

Omar has been the source of ongoing antisemitism, frequently criticizing America's ally Israel as well as attacking American values.
