McCarthy Chief of Staff Talk Gaining Steam

In recent days, we have seen some movement on the possibilities for Trump’s cabinet.

Sources inside the Trump camp have confirmed that Vivek Ramaswamy, while being considered for a Cabinet position, will not be considered as Trump’s VP.

There is also more buzz about Speaker Emeritus Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) being strongly considered for Trump’s Chief of Staff, something I had first predicted back in December 2023 (I mentioned this at the bottom of the 12.18.2023 report).

McCarthy’s Return

Ever since McCarthy retired from his seat, I have been hammering the idea that I thought Trump would tap him as his Chief of Staff.

McCarthy was reportedly in consideration for the position during Trump’s first term, but he was adamant that he wanted to be Speaker, so he reportedly removed himself from consideration.

That is obviously no longer a problem for McCarthy, but he clearly still has an ax to grind with some members of Congress. Being Trump’s Chief of Staff would give him the perfect venue to extract his pint of blood.

Even though McCarthy is considered a swamp rat by most of us, he has endeared himself to Trump over the years.

Trump also likes McCarthy because of his knowledge of Congress's inner workings, so he has to be atop the list for this particular position.

I am no fan of McCarthy, but I do believe he would be good at this job. Unlike previous Chiefs of Staff, McCarthy has proven his undying loyalty to Trump, so I don’t see him stabbing Trump in the back for personal glory.

Trump also needs someone who can work with members of Congress as his personal WHIP to get legislation passed, and McCarthy is capable of reaching across the aisle.

Where McCarthy failed as Speaker, he would have a much larger hammer behind him as Chief of Staff, as I can see him threatening to primary anyone in the GOP who does not fall in line with Trump on legislative issues.

Trump’s campaign has made one thing very clear during this election cycle…  you are either with Trump or you are not, and if you are not, they will do everything in their power to have you removed.

McCarthy loves to play the tough guy, so this is right up his alley.
