Mayor of San Vincente, Ecuador Found Shot Dead in Car

Tragedy has once again struck in Ecuador, as the youngest mayor ever elected is dead.

Brigitte Garcia, who was only 27 years old, was shot dead in a car next to her communications director, Jairo Loor.

The two of them were found dead in the province of Manabi.

Shot Dead

Garcia was the mayor of San Vincente, having been the youngest mayor elected in the country’s history.

Sadly, her time in office did not last very long.

Garcia and Loor were found dead in a rental car, but this case gets even more bizarre.

According to local reports, the shots were apparently fired from inside the vehicle.

Garcia belonged to President Rafael Correa’s Citizen Revolution Movement party, and she was the first political assassination since Ecuadorian presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio was killed during a political event on August 9, 2023.

The Municipality of San Vicente posted on social media, "Let us always remember her indomitable spirit, her humanity and her dedication to making the world a better place.

"Shine forever eternal citizen mayor [Brigitte]."

She was a young lady who was clearly looking forward to making changes, which may have made her a target for assassination.

Her death is far from the only example of turmoil in Ecuador right now, as you can see in this video, where armed gunman took over a TV studio…

After that incident took place in January, President Daniel Noboa declared a state of emergency due to the massive increase in violence that has taken place in the country.

President Noboa’s office has ensured a swift investigation into the death of Garcia as well as condemning her killing.

This is a developing story, and we will update later, if necessary, with any further developments in the case.
