Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) is back in the headlines, and it is going to be quite the problem for Democrats... or is it all just a stunt by Manchin.
Manchin says that he is seriously considering leaving the Democrat Party to become an Independent, reported The Hill.
Now, before everyone gets too excited about this, let me tell you how this is just another move for Manchin to get headlines, possibly save his Senate seat, and pull another fast one over the American people.
Big Deal
This literally means NOTHING to Republicans, regardless of what the hacks on TV are trying to tell you.
First, this will get Manchin to interview with people like Sean Hannity, who will gush all over him, and in turn that will get Manchin votes from Republicans if he runs for his Senate seat again.
Second, since he is from West Virginia and West Virginians are growing tired of Democrat nonsense, he will probably have a better chance of defending his seat.
Now is where this starts to get really interesting.
No matter how much nonsense Manchin talks about Democrats, and he is throwing quite a bit of mud around right now, he will still caucus with the Democrats, so he will count as a Democrat in terms of the majority in the Senate.
So, you see, this gives Republicans ZERO benefit and it is a big nothing burger.
On this possible switch, Manchin stated, “I’m thinking seriously. For me, I have to have peace of mind, basically.
“The brand has become so bad — the D brand and R brand. In West Virginia, the D brand because it’s [the] national brand. It’s not the Democrats in West Virginia, it’s the Democrats in Washington.
“You’ve heard me say a million times I’m not a Washington Democrat,” reported Breitbart.
Manchin continued, “I’ve been thinking about that for quite some time. I haven’t made any decisions whatsoever on any of my political direction. I want to make sure that my voice is truly an independent voice.
“When I do speak, I want to be able to speak honestly about basically the extremes of the Democrat and Republican Party that’s harming our nation.”
Again, though only question that should have been asked is, “Who will you be caucusing with?”
The answer would be Democrats, and if the Democrats are that bad, then why would he caucus with them?
Let me say this straight up… any conservative member of the media that tries to tell you this is a good thing for Republicans is a complete and utter hack. It literally makes no difference whatsoever in the overall scheme of things.
