Matt Gaetz to Force Biden Impeachment Vote, Warns McCarthy Not to Oppose Him

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is leading a group of Republicans in an effort to move forward with impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden.

Gaetz warned House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) he could be removed if he attempts to get in the way.

“I have traveled the country and spoken to so many Americans. They’re disillusioned with House Republicans right now. They think that we have not put up a substantial battle to defeat the worst elements of this Biden administration,” Gaetz said during the interview.

“I worked very hard in January to develop a toolkit for us to be able to reorient the House of Representatives in a productive and positive way. I don’t believe we’ve used those tools as effectively as we should have,” he added.

"Gaetz said that when the House returns to Washington next week, Republicans must proactively 'seize the initiative' with a vote to initiate an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. Biden is accused of, among other things, participating in his son Hunter's efforts to secure foreign business deals by trading on the Biden family name," Newsmax reported.

"That means forcing votes on impeachment. And if Speaker McCarthy stands in our way, he may not have the job long," Gaetz said.

Gaetz was among a group of GOP holdouts who voted against McCarthy during his lengthy return to the House's leadership.

The Florida congressman's warning shows that he and other GOP leaders are serious about Biden's impeachment, even if not all Republicans are convinced they should move forward.

Some are even concerned that a successful attempt would put Vice President Kamala Harris in leadership, a situation that would be even more difficult for Republicans.

The chaos is likely to grow, with Gaetz quick to stand up for the movement to impeach Biden.
