Massive Lead in New York Gubernatorial Election is Gone

New York, you may be betting a Republican governor.

Governor Kathy Hochul has had a monstrous lead throughout this campaign.

The operative word there is HAD.

It’s Gone

The latest Trafalgar poll came out for New York on Thursday.

When Hochul read it, I am sure you could have heard a pin drop in that room before she started screaming her head off.

I am hoping beyond hope that this is not an outlier.

That double-digit lead that Hochul had is gone.

The poll still has Hochul in the lead, but the margin is now 44.5-42.6, which is inside the margin of error.

What makes me think this is not an outlier is that this poll mimics what we are seeing around the country.

For instance, I reported earlier in the week that a GOP candidate is leading the field in Oregon.

The last time that state had a GOP governor was 1987!

I won’t get too giddy until the next two rounds of polls come out and I see a trend, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
