Marlow: Pardon All J6 Defendants on Day One
Breitbart Editor-in-Chief and “Alex Marlow Show” host Alex Marlow is hoping that Donald Trump will make a big splash on day one in office.
Marlow just suggested that Trump pardon all J6 defendants as soon as he takes office.
I can tell you right now that I just don’t agree with that statement.
Pardon Them All
Before I start getting hate mail on this, let me be clear that I believe a significant number of the J6 defendants should be pardoned.
There are some 1,400 people who were prosecuted, many on very trivial charges, simply to make a point.
Having said that, police officers were attacked, and property was damaged, and the people who did that need to be held accountable.
But when you are talking about people who were simply wandering around the Capitol, taking in the sites, or even praying, no, they do not deserve to be in jail.
Marlow wants them all pardoned, stating, “Donald Trump should pardon every single person and commute the sentences of every person who was involved in January 6. … It was so overblown, and we need to send a signal that you’re not allowed to do that to the American people.”
I agree that it was overblown. The idea that Democrats played this off as an insurrection is a complete and utter joke, especially considering how they downplayed the George Floyd riots, which only had a small percentage of the prosecutions of the J6 riot at the Capitol.
But do we really want to pardon people who attacked police officers? Do we want to pardon people who defaced the Capitol?
If we do that, we are hypocrites, and even though many people got away with much worse during the George Floyd riots, I cannot excuse what happened on J6 simply because Democrats and law enforcement looked the other way during the Floyd rioting.
Not only that, but if Trump pardons anyone with insurrection charges or a derivative of that, he opens himself up to removal from office via the 14th Amendment for lending aid and comfort to an insurrectionist.
Trump has to be very careful here because believe me, Dems are just waiting to pounce on this.
