Mariah Carey forced to cancel Christmas shows
Singer Mariah Carey has been forced to cancel some of her Christmas shows.
The cancellations, according to Fox News, are due to illness.
Carey announced the cancellations on her X account. Suffice it to say that fans are extremely disappointed.
Newark and Belmont - I wish I had better news but unfortunately I’m still sick and have to cancel the shows tonight and on Sunday. I’m really devastated about it and appreciate your support. Love, MC 💔

The latest
Last week, Mariah Carey announced that she had to cancel multiple shows due to the fact that she has come down with the flu.
The first cancellation came on Wednesday, and it was for her upcoming show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She wrote:
Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much.
Carey was hoping to recover quickly and to get back to singing, but unfortunately this is not how things have played out. She was forced to cancel yet another show a couple of days later, on Friday. This was for her shows in Newark and Belmont.
She, on her X account, wrote:
Newark and Belmont - I wish I had better news but unfortunately I’m still sick and have to cancel the shows tonight and on Sunday. I’m really devastated about it and appreciate your support. Love, MC
It is unclear, at the time of this writing, whether or not Carey has gotten better or whether she is going to have to issue even more cancellations.
Background
ABC 7 explains why it is that these cancellations are particularly devastating for Carey's fans, and it is, in part, due to the fact that this is Carey's 30th anniversary of her renowned Merry Christmas album.
Per the outlet:
The cancellations come during a significant milestone for the artist. This season marks the 30th anniversary of Carey's legendary "Merry Christmas" album, which features the chart-topping holiday anthem, "All I Want for Christmas Is You."
The outlet goes on to explain that fans still have one more chance to view Carey before Christmas - that is, if she has recovered from her illness.
"Despite the cancellations, Carey still has one scheduled stop remaining on her holiday tour at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Tuesday," the outlet reports.
As mentioned, though, there is still no word as to whether Carey is going to be able to perform.
