Manchin Will Face GOP Challenger for Senate Seat in 2024

Senator Joe Manchin has taken considerable criticism from his party over the last few years.

He is also now suffering through some of his worst approval ratings by the people of West Virginia.

If there was ever a time for the GOP to strike it is now, and those waters are about to be tested.

Taking on the Other Joe

Manchin will be challenged by Rep. Alex Mooney (R-W.V.).

Mooney made his formal announcement on Tuesday.

He stated, "West Virginia values are at risk in this country.

"We're bankrupting America. I want to be a part of the solution there.

"It's been talked about a lot, but I'm going to announce.

"I'm announcing it right now that I'm running for the U.S. Senate.

"I'm all in."

Manchin has no problem being opposed, stating, "I've always been opposed in every election I've ever been in.

"So with that I encourage people to get involved in the process."

However, Manchin has never been in danger or realistically losing his seat before.

I don't know if Mooney can get enough Democrats and independents to vote for him, but I would wager that he will take just about every Republican vote away from Manchin.

Over the last two years, Manchin made big promises and reneged on just about every one of them.

He made backroom deals and used conservatives as pawns.

He helped put a man in office and has supported an administration that has lined up coal country, the very soul of West Virginia, and put it on the bullseye.

This election will be different… that I can assure you,
