Manchin Rages Against Sanders and GOP for Fighting Permitting Reform

Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) made a deal with the devil, and now he is paying for it.

Manchin signed off on Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act to get legislation he wanted passed and added to the government funding bill.

Manchin even sold the legislation as a way to reduce inflation, even though he knew it was a blatant lie.

Now Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is fighting him on it, as are Republicans.

Don't White to Us Now

While politics should not be a revenge game, that is what we see now.

Quite frankly, Manchin is getting what he deserves.

He signed off on horrible legislation solely to pass his bill, but there is not enough support for it.

Furthermore, the government now faces a shutdown because Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) agreed to put the reform package into the upcoming budget legislation.

Manchin, on the Sanders resistance, stated, "I never did think Bernie would ever [support it] — he's never been for any permitting reforms whatsoever, and he's not been for an energy policy that works for America — that means all-in, you have to have fossil.

"You have to be strong with your fossil [fuel production].

"You have to be energy-independent if you want to be secured, and if you want to be the superpower of the world, we can walk and chew gum.

"We can invest in the technology for the future, making sure we have the energy we need today.

"So I never did think I'd have Bernie and some of the extreme, far Left."

Then he took aim at the right, adding, "What I didn't expect is that Mitch McConnell, my Republican friends, would be signing up with Bernie or trying to get the same outcome by not passing permitting reform."

The GOP is fuming that Manchin sold out everyone when he broke his promise about using reconciliation again.

You can say it is not about you all you want, Senator Manchin, but when you betrayed everyone on the IRA, now you have to pay the price.
