Man Who Attacked Judge Pleads Guilty
If you remember, this year started with a bit of a ban in the legal world.
There was a video that went viral in early January of a defendant leaping over the bench to go after a judge in Nevada.
The man was charged for going after the judge, and he just pleaded guilty, but there is a caveat to the plea deal.
Crazy Man
The video was something that you rarely see in court.
Usually, the bailiffs will stop anyone from getting near a judge, but that was not the case here.
Deobra Redden went nuts during his trial, jumped over the bench, and attacked Clark County District Judge Mary Kay Holthus.
As she told the defendant, "I think it’s time he got a taste of something else," he launched himself at her.
You have to see this to believe it…
Redden has pleaded guilty to six charges, but he did maintain that he was innocent of attempted murder against a victim 60 or older.
The kicker… he also added a mentally ill plea to each count.
Holthus revealed the incident in court, stating, "Obviously, I hit my head, my family didn’t want me driving, and so my daughter wanted to go get a scan.
"I had a headache for a few days and the spots where he had pulled out the hair… it was sore where he had pulled out. My back, my arm, everything was stiff like you know when you get jostled around.
"He knocked me literally, almost through the wall, out of my chair. He knocked me so hard; he knocked me out of my shoes.
"He was so determined and so violent and so it was scary. I didn’t think I was going to get out of there."
Redden has a record a mile long, so I am not sure how lenient the court will be with him, even with his claim of mental illness.
Something tells me that the 31-year-old will be living out his final days behind bars.
