Maher: ‘Sorry Gavin Newsom’

Diversity… it is a word that Democrats are obsessed with right now.

Bill Maher believes that word will limit any candidates hoping to jump into the 2024 presidential election if Joe Biden bows out.

More specifically, white straight men have no chance.

Sorry, Gavin

Maher did not hold back in talking to the openly gay Colorado Governor Jared Polis.

Maher asked Polis, "Do you think, when you run for president, it actually could be an advantage?

"Because the Democratic Party is very big on checking boxes.

"And it's very hard to imagine any ticket now on the Democratic side that would have just two straight, White men.

"It's impossible to imagine. So they need to check boxes. You check one of them."

Polis eventually pushed back a bit, stating, "It's not a bad thing that the Democratic Party wants to look like America. I mean, I think it is good that you have a party, you know, on race, on gender on all these different on faith, on all these different factors. I mean, you want to look like America."

Maher shot back, "It is a good thing. But the question, though, is it the priority?

"I think that's what people hesitate sometimes about the Democrats. Is it more of a priority than things like merit that should matter more? Is it more of a priority than facts or science?"

At the conclusion of the segment, Maher broke the bad news to Gavin Newsom that he failed to check any of those boxes.

He stated, "And it's perfect because no straight White guys.

"The last thing you want is a straight White guy. Sorry Gavin Newsom!"

If Biden does not run, I think Maher is right.

I think you will have either a gay or minority man along with a black woman on the ticket.

Democrats love to claim they were the first, so they will look to break as many glass ceilings as they can the next time around.
